Finding and Evaluating Data for Your Research Online
You’ve got an idea for your next research project and you’re wondering how you’re going to be able to collect data to carry it out. Good news – you probably don’t have to collect your own data! ICPSR is one of the largest archives for social and behavioral science data and, with over 28,000 studies, there might just be something for you! This session will introduce you to the kinds of data in ICPSR’s holdings, provide search tips to help you find what you want, and describe the standardized information (metadata) you can use to evaluate whether the data will work for your project. We’ll talk about how to access both public use data, available with the push of a button or two, and restricted data.
