Introduction to Generative AI in Medical Education Online

This one-hour workshop will introduce participants to generative AI, covering its underlying mechanisms, applications, and output evaluation, while also addressing institutional guidelines and ethical considerations for its use in medical educational settings. The session will conclude with practical instruction on prompt engineering, including strategies for crafting effective prompts, recognizing when to rely on human expertise, and distinguishing between exploratory and validation use cases.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the basic principles of generative AI, including its functionality, capabilities, and limitations in various tasks.
  2. Identify and apply relevant institutional guidelines and ethical considerations when using generative AI in medical education contexts.
  3. Construct effective prompts for generative AI tools, understanding the importance of human expertise in the process.

All library classes will be streamed live via Zoom, https://iu.zoom.us/j/98587477406. If there are no attendees online, classes will be cancelled 15 minutes after the scheduled start time.
